White to China?
Former Spur James White could soon sign a contract with Chinese club Xinjiang Guanhui, agent Bill McCandless told HoopsHype.com.
“Unless there is a trade involving one of three NBA teams with whom we are in contact, he will accept a lucrative six-month deal in China,” McCandless said. “Memphis, Atlanta, and Indiana had the most late interest. One of these three was willing to make a financial commitment, but it was and remains conditioned on moving a player. If that does not happen, then James will play in China.”

Though I believe James White has NBA-level athleticism and enough skill to at least land a spot on somebody’s bench, I think a stint in China is a wise financial decision, especially for someone with such a magnificent skill-set.
With China’s fantastic economy, and surge in basketball interest, I think pro ball in China will see greater level of interest from American players on the fringe of the NBA. As for White, who would be a fan favourite in the States (if he could land on an NBA team and participate in the dunk contest), his free-throw line dunking abilities will easily make him the hottest commodity in Asia as the sport continues to blossom globally.
