Official: Elson to Milwaukee
Free agent center Francisco Elson confirmed to HoopsHype.com via e-mail that he’s indeed signing with the Bucks, as first reported here last Wednesday. The former Spur will be joining the only other Dutchman in the NBA, Dan Gadzuric, in Milwaukee.
“I had a great conversation with the coach (Scott Skiles) and I feel this is the place I can contribute the most with my position and have an impact,” Elson said. “The team looks great, the guys are great, the staff is great. I’m very excited to be a part of their organization and I really look forward to playing. The organization is committed to win and I want to be a part of that.”

He would make a important contribution. He also did the same with the Spurs. He could give depth and he could be an important asset in the rebound and points category. He could give a 10(points) and 6(rebounds) a night if he gets playing time.

Way to go Francisco!!! Best of luck and I know you will be a great help to the Bucks. You WERE a big help here with the Spurs - will enjoy seeing you when you come back to play the Spurs.
Lucky Bucks………………

No matter where he goes he is gonna suck he is just another body that will be used for fouls and a little interior defense and that’s it overall he’s a bum for a big man. He didn’t do anything anywhere he has been but I understand John Hammonds strategy you gotta have some bigs for use in the East. Especially when you have to defend KG, Rasheed, Elton Brand, Jermaine ONeal, Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh not to mention all the other faster and stronger young bigs that are in the East.

Good sign. he’ll be a good backup center for howeverlong his stay in milwaukee is, tho he’ll never be a top 6 scoring option.

Good deal Elson, and as a Dutchman myself I am proud that you are performing on this level and to the best of your opportunities.
Also, enjoy your time with the Dutch team this summer and maybe, MAYBE, you can convince Dan (and his family) that they should come over during summertime once as well. I would love to see you and Dan in the backcourt……..(always nice to daydream).
Cheers

2 dutch players on the same team that would be great not only fransisco but dan gadzuric has way more potential then you think.
if you look dan gadzuric rebounds per 48 min in the past he was one
of the best. both can run on the fast break set screens and play the pick and roll. the dont have much of a low post game but the wil run other centers crazy, both are extremely athletic and the key is not
there ballhandeling skills but there energy could give you some great
block, rebound, fast breakpoints so the crowd gets into it!! milwaukee could have a legit playoff team now..we”ll see…

Funny,
2 years ago (Elson was still a Spur), he was asked about the other Dutchman in the NBA, he replied: Yeah, but I don’t know him, doesn’t matter, he plays on a crappy team…
The Bucks are a lot better now, but it’s still kinda ironic.

This is a guy that did his thing for spurs and hoping that he can do it for the bucks elson has to inprove on his scoring but its there.

Elson is a good player and good rebounder he can hold a player white on rice but elson needs to improve his scoring ablity and he’ll be great for the bucks

As a fellow dutchman I can say Elson isnt the bucks answer for a low post scorer next to bogut but he can rebound and run the floor well. Like most European centers he has a nice 18 ft jumper so he can face up. The best way the Bucks can use their Double Dutch is to run, run and run again. I doubt that you will find 2 faster centers in the NBA.

Elson is going to be a decent backup center but as a Bucks fan who has watched Gadzuric for the past few seasons, it is easy to see that he is not a factor at all. Elson will actually get some good minutes with the Bucks not having an impactful Power forward. I’d like to see a “twin towers” like move with Bogut at center, Elson at PF, Jefferson at SF, Redd at SG, and Williams at PG. That leaves room for Villanueva to come off the bench for some scoring. Good luck Elson.

you guys are crazy if you think this guy is going to enable the bucks to make the playoffs, if they do its going to be the growth of their young core. I don’t think their floor general m williams is trying to stick around and without him they’re fucked…

Nice to see the two only Dutchmen on one team
I have to agree with Novio Magus.. They’re not the best low-post scorers but they can out-run the other centers easily.
Look for a fast-paces Milwaukee Bucks next season.
Go Dutchmen!
