I know J-Smoov and i know he is a class act and a great person. I'm extremely happy that he is staying with the Hawks and is the cornerstone in turning that franchise around. It's been a long time coming and only great things will happen in the future. This season will be exciting. I cant wait.

It's nice to see, that Josh and Coach Woodson were staying in contact throughout the contract negotiations. As a Hawks fan, I too was worried that the relationship was fringed beyond repair, but as they say, winning fixes everything. During the course of the seven game playoff series verse Boston, both player and coach developed respect for one another. In regards to Josh Childress, did the Hawks get burned, a bit? Yes. But, considering the fact, the Hawks must re-sign in the next two years the likes of Joe Johnson and Al Horford to near-max contracts, along with whatever might be offered to a Mike Bibby and or Marvin Williams (10 lb stronger, 21ft range) at the end of this coming season, Sund was not in position to offer Josh anything more then 35 mil over 5 years. They might say, Josh was never offered more then 32 mil, but safe to say if 35 mil would have gotten the contract signed it would have been done. My sources say, Chilly wanted 40 mil over 5. In my opinion, Maurice Evans, will pleasantly surprise those Hawks fans as well as his teammates with his athletic ability and knack for knocking down jump shots. He is not as tall or long as Chills, but he is as athletic (see youtube), and as competitive. Evans will test Joe Johnson day in and day out during training camp. Evans is great value at 7.5 mil over 3 years and does not tie up the cap-space that Josh Childress's contract would have.

Surprisingly insightful interview. He will grow on and off the court - the sky is truly the limit for him. His handle and shot just need a little fine tuning, but the rudiments are there. I think that mental aspects like shot selection and awareness will come with experience. Really, ATL had no choice but to match - the kid will be a perennial all star, esp if ATL stays of the cellar.

Surprisingly insightful interview. It seems like he has grown up some. He will grow on the court too, the sky is truly the limit for him. His handle and shot just need a little fine tuning, but the form is there, we're not talkin bout Shawn Marion here. I think that mental aspects like shot selection and awareness will come in time. Really, ATL had no choice but to match - the kid will be a perennial all star, esp if ATL stays of the cellar.
