I’m a die hard Celtics fan and have been for 25 years. It pains me to say this but Kobe should get the MVP. Chris Paul is a very close 2nd place, and LB is 3rd. Kobe is the heart (do the Lakers really have one?) and soul of the Lakers. He has become a less selfish player this year and has finally done the one thing he wouldn’t do the past seasons and that’s make the players around him better. He’s also in the top 3 in scoring and has led the Lakers to the best record in the competitive west.

With that said, Bring the Lakers on to the Celtics in the finals! Everything old is new again! No way that Kobe, Lamar, and Gasol (possibly Bynum?) match and keep up with Truth, KG, Jesus, and company. Go Green. We’ve earned it Ubuntu!

I guess we’ll just have to face it, it’s either you love kobe or you hate ‘em. Too bad for the haters, they cant recognize the skills and the attitude of a great player. They’re stuck living in those MJ days … nobody’s arguing MJ is (arguably) the best player of all time but gotta live with the NOW. Just enjoy the show and watch a new player rise up to the pedestal of greatness. Kobe and the Lakers all the way baby.

The MVP race is extremely close (if you can’t recognize that then you really shouldn’t be commenting in the first place) but I will say that Chris Paul is hands down a better leader than Kobe. Would Paul whine about his team in public for anyone with a videophone to see? Would Paul shoot his teammates condescending glares when they screw up? Chris Paul has class and Kobe has never really figured out how to get along with his inferior teammates.

Kobe or CP3, I don’t really think you can go wrong. That said, Kobe probably has the dumbest fans in the league. It’s really annoying.

I’m not sure if Kobe deserves the MVP (it’s incredibly close between him and Chris Paul) but I am sure that Kobe has some of the most annoying and unintelligent fans around. (I would say they are the most biased fans in the League but then that would be insulting to the Trail Blazers announcers and everyone from Toronto.) Put it this way… if you think the MVP race is “obvious” or “a no-brainer” then you are, putting it mildly, an idiot.

In defense of Chris Paul, he has a much weaker suppporting cast than Kobe. David West is not an All-Star without CP3, Tyson Chandler and Paul were the most prolific alley-oop combo in the league, and Peja shot is highest percentage from 3 of his career. I realize (from your comments) that most of you haven’t watched Chris Paul play this year but I don’t think he will ever play on a sub-.500 team as long as he is healthy. He makes everyone around him so much better its really beautiful to watch. Also, he is an actual leader who his teammates obviously love. Would CP3 publicly whine about his front office? Would he shoot condescending stares toward his teammates when they mess up? The MVP race is close but the debate over who is the better leader is pretty obvious.

I really like the more unrehearsed interviews. Where a player can talk a bit about their non-game POV’s on things. Get a feel for what else is important in their. How many times does the interview have to be : “If we score make more baskets we will win.”

LeBron has weaker team yes, but he’s also on a much weaker conference. Jordan never won without Pippen or Phil. Lakers were playing without a true center for a good portion of the season due to injuries to Bynum, Gasol & Mihm, the last I looked, size still matters!! let’s see if CP3 without David West & Tyson Chandler & Peja Stojakovic and he can still elevate his team to .500, I DOUBT IT! Why did Nash win MVP 2 straight season? if u take Marion & Amare out of the equation, I doubt he’ll be competitive in the first place. Injuries happen and a team is no longer the same when you’re missing key components. As good as Shaq is… you look at how he struggles in Miami. As good as KG is in Celtics…. they’re still 7-3 without him, so.. why would KG be consider one of the MVP candidate also? I don’t see why Lakers is overrated when they’ve gone 22-5 since Gasol is in the line up (one of the loss Gasol only played 2 min). If Bynum is back, I don’t see how anyone can say Lakers is overrated.

Hey Francis Lavin…what does that gotta do with basketball?? and foe all the kobe haters out there just stop hatin man, how can u say they’ll be a .500 team without Pau? with all the injuries they had!! Okay, so what happened when Pau was injured, lakers still winning games, kobe elevated his teammates’ game. So stop hatin, give him the MVP..EVEN LEBRON wants to vote KOBE for MVP, Lakers 08 NBA CHAMPS!!
